CUS PALERMO

Giovedì 14 maggio 2026 la Torretta del CUS Palermo (Via Altofonte 80) sarà il palcoscenico dell’evento finale del progetto VIBES – Virtual Reality Sports Interaction Between European Schools, progetto Erasmus+ Sport che ha coinvolto scuole e università di quattro paesi europei nella sperimentazione della realtà virtuale nelle ore di educazione fisica.

L’appuntamento è in programma dalle ore 09:00 alle 13:00 in formato ibrido: in presenza a Palermo e in diretta streaming per i partner europei e per chiunque voglia seguire i lavori, sarà garantito il servizio di traduzione simultanea.

VIBES ha avuto l’obiettivo ambizioso di introdurre i dispositivi di realtà virtuale nelle scuole durante le ore di scienze motorie, esplorando le potenzialità di questa tecnologia non solo sul piano didattico, ma soprattutto in una prospettiva inclusiva e accessibile. Il percorso ha attraversato tre fasi principali:

• Creazione di un manuale condiviso tra i partner europei. Il CUS Palermo ha curato in particolare la sezione dedicata all’utilizzo dei visori VR in ottica inclusiva, con attenzione agli studenti con disabilità o bisogni speciali.
• Formazione nelle scuole palermitane coinvolte nel progetto (Liceo Regina Margherita, Liceo Linguistico Casarà, IISS Ascione), con docenti di educazione fisica formati all’uso delle tecnologie VR in classe.
• Tornei di VR sport articolati su più livelli: intraclasse, interclasse, interscolastico e internazionale, con studenti delle nazioni partner (Belgio, Cipro, Portogallo) che si sono “sfidati” virtualmente attraverso i visori.

Dopo i saluti istituzionali – ai quali interverranno rappresentanti della Regione Siciliana, del Comune di Palermo, dell’Università degli Studi di Palermo e dei partner europei – la mattinata prevede la presentazione dei risultati del progetto, un focus group interattivo in diretta con studenti e insegnanti di Belgio, Cipro e Portogallo, e le “VR Stations”: dimostrazioni pratiche dei visori di realtà virtuale applicate all’educazione fisica, curate dal team tecnico del CUS Palermo (Dott. Vito Rizza, Dott.ssa Alessandra Crapa). La sessione si concluderà con una tavola rotonda e un momento di networking tra tutti i partecipanti.

VIBES è coordinato dalla Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgio) e vede la partecipazione di UCLan Cyprus e Inquiry Fuse (Cipro), del Politecnico di Leiria (Portogallo), e del CUS Palermo (Italia), partner locale e organizzatore dell’evento finale, con il supporto dell’International Sport and Culture Association (ISCA).

On Thursday 14 May 2026, the CUS Palermo Tower (Via Altofonte 80) will host the final event of the VIBES project – Virtual Reality Sports Interaction Between European Schools, an Erasmus+ Sport project that has involved schools and universities from four European countries in experimenting with virtual reality during physical education lessons.

The event is scheduled from 09:00 to 13:00 in a hybrid format: in person in Palermo and via live stream for European partners and anyone wishing to follow the proceedings; simultaneous interpretation will be provided.

VIBES had the ambitious goal of introducing virtual reality devices into schools during physical education lessons, exploring the potential of this technology not only from an educational perspective, but above all from an inclusive and accessible one. The project comprised three main phases:

• Creation of a handbook shared amongst the European partners. CUS Palermo was specifically responsible for the section on the inclusive use of VR headsets, with a focus on students with disabilities or special needs.
• Training in the Palermo schools involved in the project (Liceo Regina Margherita, Liceo Linguistico Casarà, IISS Ascione), with PE teachers trained in the use of VR technologies in the classroom.
  Multi-level VR sports tournaments: intra-class, inter-class, inter-school and international, with students from partner countries (Belgium, Cyprus, Portugal) competing virtually via headsets.
• Following the official opening remarks – featuring representatives from the Sicilian Regional Government, the City of Palermo, the University of Palermo and the European partners – the morning will include a presentation of the project’s results, a live interactive focus group with students and teachers from Belgium, Cyprus and Portugal, and the “VR Stations”: practical demonstrations of virtual reality headsets applied to physical education, organised by the technical team of CUS Palermo (Dr Vito Rizza, Dr Alessandra Crapa).
