PROGETTI UE: Train4Family International Meeting in Murcia

Train4Family transnational project meeting took place in Murcia, Spain, on May 28–29, 2025, gathering project partners from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Italy, Slovenia, Spain, and Turkey. Hosted by the University of Murcia (UMU), the meeting served as an important milestone in coordinating the implementation and evaluation of sport-based activities designed for children with disabilities and their families.
The two-day meeting began with a warm welcome by the host organization, followed by presentations on the progress of key project deliverables, including sport demonstration videos by CUS Palermo and the evaluation report by BRAVO. Special attention was given to the documentation and challenges surrounding the implementation of local sport training activities in partner countries. These sessions facilitated valuable exchange of practical experience and good practices in using sport as a tool for social inclusion and healthy family bonding.
Day two focused on forward planning and sustainability. Partners engaged in detailed discussions on upcoming deliverables, including the preparation of scientific articles, the structuring of multiplier sport events, and the future development of educational content. Administrative and coordination matters were also addressed to ensure smooth progress toward the final project stages.
The meeting in Murcia further reinforced the importance of promoting physical activity and healthy living among families, particularly those involving children with disabilities. As part of the Train4Family initiative, participating countries continue to develop and deliver training sessions in athletics and swimming, supported by tailored manuals and an e-learning platform. These actions contribute to empowering families and enhancing the well-being and inclusion of children through adapted sports activities.
#Train4Family project aims to include children with disabilities with their family in social life, to improve the quality of their lives, to make them closer with the family, to make them included in sport recreation and consuming healthy diet by creating an environment which enables their development. As part of the project, families will be educated under the guidance of trainers/coaches, and educational content available on the platform as well as in the manuals on methods of implementing sports for children with various types of physical or intellectual disabilities. By including the whole family in sports activities, it promotes a healthy lifestyle for the whole family, makes parents/guardians/siblings more included and active in the life of their family member with disabilities.
The Train4Family project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union and brings together an international consortium working to reduce marginalization, foster family inclusion, and create sustainable tools for physical activity and healthy living.
